Rene Magritte famously said ‘This is not a pipe’, suggesting that it is only a representation of a pipe. This work is creating a certain illusion of fear while suggesting that ‘This is not fear’ as the emotion created is not real, the emotion of fear is only representational just like the Indian story of rope accepted as a snake is an illusion.
